Spring 2025 Instructors:

This course discusses leading causes of child health problems as well as examines the child and family reactions and adjustment to illness and disability. A developmental perspective on coping with health problems from early childhood through adolescence is presented. An overview on global child health disparities is also addressed.

Learning Outcomes

1Discuss the impact of illness on children, adolescents, and families.

2Examine and analyze the leading causes of child and adolescent health.

3Examine and compare health disparities among national and international children.

4Determine the complexities and implications of health care policy and barriers to access to care on children, adolescents and families.

5Determine the importance of implementing family centered care and interdisciplinary collaboration while providing care for children and adolescents.

6Identify professional opportunities in child and family health.
