Family ties and family processes in the promotion of individual health and management of disease across the life course are covered. Course reviews research on families and health from multiple disciplinary perspectives.

Learning Outcomes

1Describe evolutionary and biosocial theory as the basis of development, using a life course perspective from conception through old age.

2Identify the key biological systems involved in behavior, and how they are measured in biosocial research.

3Explain the direct implications for biological and environmental interactions for families, children, adolescents, and adults.
