Fall 2025 Instructors:

A survey of modern biochemistry using case studies that highlight general theories and unifying concepts. This course is open to all majors and does not require any college science courses as background or prerequisite.

Learning Outcomes

1Understand the molecular principles of life based on the core disciplines of biology, chemistry and physics.

2Understand the scientific method. Be able to develop hypotheses, design experiments and critically analyze results to create new knowledge.

3Appreciate the ethical issues facing professionals in the life sciences.

4Understand the contribution of our discipline to society, including improvements to medicine, agriculture, the economy and the environment.
